WHY THIS CHALLENGER MATTERS

THE COLLECTOR BRIEF.

Four themes, one reading. Identity, significance, tentative sale status, and your next step — in a few minutes, with the sources shown.

Status: owner-supplied sources describe this car's identity and history. Independent condition, documentation, and originality review remains the next step — and is expected before any auction decision.

01

A factory engineering program, documented.

The owner-supplied account places this Challenger inside Chrysler's early Pro Stock effort: a 1970 HEMI four-speed donor developed to its late-1971 presentation — a dual-plug 426 HEMI (block number 30), custom capacitive-discharge ignition, tunnel-ram induction, an aluminum A-833 four-speed, and a modified Dana 60 rear axle.

Proof 10 owner-supplied booklet synopsis, pp. 3–4 and 7–8. Descriptions are owner-described; current configuration awaits inspection and is not asserted as originality.
02

The Data Van made the run legible.

The booklet describes a dedicated Data Van recording engine RPM, throttle, longitudinal G, driveshaft RPM, wheel speed, and pressure channels, with strip-chart analysis between passes. A historical experimental six-speed appears in the source as 1970s development work — it is not part of the current-described drivetrain.

Source note
Proof 10 synopsis, p. 9 (Data Van and test register) and p. 10 (experimental six-speed: historical development, not current configuration).
03

Named people. Surviving details.

Tom Hoover, Ted Spehar, Dick Oldfield, and Don Carlton appear by name in the supplied narrative, with period magazine coverage and Greg of Akron artwork. Surviving physical details — the lettering, sponsorship panels, and chassis work — remain on the car as evidence for specialist review.

Source note
Proof 10 synopsis, pp. 5–6 (people), 12–13 (racing images), 19–21 (team recognition, signed panel, artwork). Public use of credited imagery is pending rights review.
04

Preservation first. Review decides.

The owner's account emphasizes preservation and historical recognition, with exhibition leads on pp. 22–24. Ask the team which current-condition, ownership and component records are available; independent appraisal and inspection status must be confirmed. The website publishes no conclusions it cannot back.

01THE MACHINE

A FACTORY-BACKED IDEA, MADE PHYSICAL.

The booklet account places this Challenger inside Chrysler's early Pro Stock engineering program: a working laboratory shaped by launch, weight transfer, materials, and repeatable observation.

The source distinguishes a 1970 HEMI four-speed donor from the car's late-1971 presentation without collapsing those moments into one unsupported claim.
